I ran this race last year and I also live right near Ottawa Park and I run the Ottawa Park loop every week. In my opinion, the RS 8k race is great as is, with one important change, run the Ottawa Park Loop in the other direction! The way it is now (off bancroft, going east first) the runners do several long gradual climbs (annoying and slows pace) and then most of the downhill comes in one really steep section right past mile 4. A steep downhill kills the legs too so not much of a benefit.

If the course was run in the opposite, clockwise, direction, then right at about mile 1, the runners would go up this steep hill and just get it over with. That leaves the last 4 miles as a net downhill with nice long gradual downhills.

This clockwise direction is much more enjoyable and faster!!!!!

Thanks,

Kevin Egan

Ryan was my favorite news anchor at Fox Toledo! I was so sorry to hear of his passing and I hope you are doing okay these days. If I didn't have so many things going on on race day, I would be there to show my support.

My Sis and I ran the Ryan Serber 8k Classic this morning. What an awesome race! Perfect weather and beautiful course. What a wonderful way to remember such a good person. Carrie... it was a pleasure to meet you. PS I do agree with a earlier posting from Kevin that it would be easier to run Ottawa Park in the opposite direction!
